Thomas Hirschmann is a primarily self taught photographer, sculptor, and jeweler. He earned his BA from Rollins College in 2007 with a masters in Studio Art and a minor in International business. He was born in Zurich, Switzerland and moved to the US when he was 9 with his family. He lived in Palm Beach and went to boarding school in New England. He attended Cardigan Mountain School in New Hampshire and then completed high school at Kent in Connecticut.
Thomas' inspiration and passion for photography comes from his worldwide travels, scuba diving, and the reef tank he maintains at his home near London.
Thomas started his venture into photography while in middle school where he started taking pictures with his mothers old 35mm camera. He bought his first SLR camera in 6th grade and hasn't stopped shooting since. His introduction into the digital realm began with a 1.2MP point and shoot camera that he used on a trip through Australia in 2000.
Currently he primarily uses a Nikon D700 for both general and underwater photography. All post processing is accomplished on a Apple Powerbook and all work is filed and stored digitally.
